Eka Kukhianidze is a classically trained actor, originally from Tbilisi, Georgia and based in New York City. She works across stage and screen, from classical plays to devised theater to romantic comedies. Her theater credits include Pride & Prejudice by Kate Hamil at Atlantic Theater Company’s Second Stage and (beyond)Doomsday Scrolling at HERE Arts Center. Her most recent film, Don’t Talk To Milo—which she wrote, and produced —is a romantic comedy currently in post-production.

She graduated from Atlantic Acting School where along with Practical Aesthetics, she was trained in Suzuki and Viewpoints,Shakespeare, Comedy, and Improvisation. She has trained extensively with SITI company members Ellen Lauren and Kelly Maurer as well as teachers like Anya Saffir, Francine Zerfas, Heidi Marshal, and Karen Kohlhaas.

She’s portrayed a wide range of characters—from a domineering mother of five to a neurotic romantic lead, to a deeply religious woman attempting to reconnect with her distant mother. Her dream role would be a character like Selina Meyer in Veep (or any other character portrayed by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) Someone unapologetic, snappy, funny, and outrageous.

Eka is inspired by the work of great actors and writers like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Norah Ephron, and many more. Her passion is creating new work and collaborating with other artists. She enjoys seeing other artists’ work and learning from them. As a theater and film writer and actor, her artistic practice centers on creating original, independent work with an emphasis on communal collaboration. She believes both theater and film were originally designed to be experienced collectively, and the communal aspect of creation and viewing has been fundamental to my approach since my time in film school and acting school.

Outside the arts, Eka works as a translator, speaking Georgian, Russian and German, bartender, occasional dogsitter, and a personal assistant. She is very particular about her coffee, loves the architecture in most of New York City but always misses nature. In her free time, she loves watching comedy films and tv, reading anything from travel writing to adventure to sci-fi to classics, spending time with her dog Vera, and and daydreaming about the Arctic.

Eka is looking forward to landing that role of an outrageous woman!
